You don’t have to be Cajun to make gumbo anymore. Gumbo Mix can help you out when you need it. Gumbo mix is a retail item off your grocery shelf. Add your own fresh sausage, seafood or chicken and serve over rice. This is a good Cajun gumbo, with much of the work done for you.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Gumbo mix
- 3 cups rice, cooked and hot
- chicken, sausage or shrimp
- 1 tsp seasoned salt
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 tsp onion and garlic salt
- 1 tsp thyme
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup okra, boiled and salted
Directions
Step 1
Throw all ingredients into a boiler pot, except for the rice, and cook. No measurements needed! Just throw it all in the pot, add the amount of meat wanted and cook until meat is done. Serve over the cooked rice with saltine crackers.
