Peel and slice uncooked sweet potatoes in one-fourth inch slices and arrange in a buttered baking dish.
Make a syrup with the remaining ingredients and pour over the potatoes. Cover and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) until tender. Baste occasionally.
