My husband’s mother loved to bake this cake for her husband and children. I use this cake now as a shortcake for sliced strawberries topped with Cool Whip or iced with chocolate served with a fresh brewed cup of coffee.
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup margarine or butter
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla flavoring
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup nuts optional
Directions
Step 1
Mix all ingredients in a large glass bowl and pour into 13"x 9" x 2" loaf cake pan that has been greased and lightly floured.
Step 2
Bake at 350 degrees until done; usually 30-40 min.
