Grandma’s Homemade Biscuits

A biscuit my grandmother used to make. I remember her rolling it out and cutting it with one of her aluminum glasses.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions

Step 1

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Step 2

Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 3

Stir in the milk and knead the dough gently.

Step 4

Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-1/2 inch biscuit cutter or you can use the aluminum glass. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
