As a young mother, I was given this recipe. It is truly wonderful.
Cake: In a large mixing bowl, mix the sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla, baking soda, salt, and the fruit cocktail.
Pour into a greased and floured sheet pan. Top with brown sugar and pecans.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Icing: In a sauce pan combine the margarine, sugar and canned milk and cook for 2 minutes.
Add the 1/2 cup pecans. and remove from heat.
Let it set and spread over cooled cake.
