Chocolate Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour, sifted before measuring
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 angel cake or bundt cake pan

Directions

Step 1

Cream butter, Crisco and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time.

Step 2

Sift together the flour, baking powder, cocoa and salt. Add to the creamed mixture with the milk and vanilla.

Step 3

Pour into a greased lightly floured pan and bake at 300 degrees for 1 and 1/2 hours.

This cake is good served plain, or iced with a chocolate fudge icing.
