My great grandma use to make this recipe. The rule for this recipe was always use butter, not margarine. My grandma always made her biscuits, but I know that many use the prepared biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 batch homemade biscuits
- sugar
- butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- pinch salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 - 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla
Directions
Step 1
Make a mixture of sugar and butter combination to your liking. Cut out the homemade biscuits and place the butter and sugar (about 1 teaspoon) in the center then fold first one side over to the other. You may fold the biscuit though any way you want. Bake in a 350 to 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 2
While the biscuits are cooking make the sauce. The sauce is a vanilla sauce, made with pinch of nutmeg, 1 - 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 cup sugar, pinch salt, 2 tablespoons butter, and 1 cup boiling water or more if two thick. The rule for this recipe was always use butter, not margarine. Boil for about 5 - 10 minutes until thick. When rolls are done pour sauce over all. Best eaten while hot.
