In a medium bowl, mix the apples and sugar and let stand 15 minutes to form juice.
In a separate bowl sift the flour, salt and baking soda together. Add to the apples. Add the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Pour into a greased and floured 8 inch square pan. Bake at 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Then eat!
