In a large glass bowl, combine the egg, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup chopped apple, flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the chopped nuts.
Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
While that's cooking, prepare the topping by combining the brown sugar, white sugar, milk, margarine and vanilla in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and continue stirring until the mixture thickens. Pour the mixture over baked loaf and enjoy.
