Add 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup milk and allow to stand at for 3 hours at room temperature for buttermilk.
Mix the dry ingredients, flour, baking powder, salt, soda and sugar and sift. Cut in the shortening.
Dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and mix with the buttermilk. Add liquid to the dry ingredients.
Roll out to 1/4 inch, dip in melted butter and fold in two to place on pan or roll out 1/2 inch and brush the top with melted butter.
Bake at 475 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
