Over 30 years ago, I was given this recipe. Very versatile, the pumpkin pie is great for Thanksgiving or Christmas or use the meat from your hallowed Halloween pumpkin. You could also alternate using the sweet potatoes for the meat of the pie. Simply delicious and easy.

Sugar cane is a popular crop in Southern Louisiana. The climate is perfect with the exception that it is a year when crop growers experience a hurricane. It is from this crop that cane syrup is made. Outside of the south there is not much cane syrup produced although England has it's own version.
